Home School Agreement 2011/2012
We believe that the sort of person a child becomes is often more important than what a child knows. It is our responsibility to create a stable and secure Christian environment within which children may grow in confidence, experience success and acquire skills of lifelong value.
Our Home – School Agreement
The school will…
- Care for your child's well being and safety.
- Be open and welcoming to our pupils and their families.
- Provide a balanced education in line with national expectations as well as a range of additional opportunities outside normal school hours.
- Promote high standards of work and behaviour from all children.
- Provide equal opportunities for all pupils.
- Foster moral, social and spiritual values in accordance with the school's ethos.
- Develop children's spirituality through real experience and within a Christian context.
- Inform you of any concerns or problems that may affect your child's work or behaviour.
- Keep you informed about teaching aims and school activities through regular letters and notices.
- Inform you directly if an after school club or activity, involving your child, is cancelled.
- Inform you via local media should the school be closed in the event of an emergency.
- Respond to your questions or concerns as promptly as possible.
- Be available to discuss your child's schooling, arrange parent/carer consultation evenings and provide an annual written report.
- Fulfil all our statutory obligations regarding your child's education.
Each child will…
- Always try my best with work, behaviour and good manners.
- Always remember to respect the rights of others and to act responsibly to:
- Care for others
- Care for myself
- Care for my school
- Care for other people's property
- Know that there is always somebody to talk to if a problem arises.
- Respect other people and their views even when I do not agree.
- Respect everybody's right to learn.
- Try to remember to take home letters, hand in notes etc.
- Do my homework to the best of my ability.
- Be a good ambassador for my school.
- Encourage my child to help him or her achieve their best.
- Respect the school's spiritual values and philosophy.
- Treat other people with respect at all times when on the school site or school activities.
- Ensure that my child attends school regularly and notify school before 9.15 a.m. on the first day of any absence.
- Ensure that my child arrives in school on time but no earlier than 8.35 a.m. (KS2) and 8.50 a.m. (KS1). Breakfast Club is available from 7.45 a.m.
- Ensure that a known person is there to collect my child by 3.30 p.m. each school day or, for older children, the Class Teachers know they have permission to travel home on their own..
- Consider the safety of all children when transporting pupils to and from school.
- Make the school aware of any concerns or problems that may affect my child's work, behaviour or attendance.
- Support the school behaviour policy and encourage good behaviour at all times.
- Support my child with reading, spelling, maths and other home learning activities.
- Take time to get to know about my child's life at school and attend school events where possible.
- Attend consultation evenings to learn about my child's progress.
- Comply with the school's uniform code.
- Provide my child with water in a named water bottle to drink during the day besides a healthy snack and packed lunch that are part of my child's balanced diet.
- Encourage my child to join in the after school activities which interest him/her.
- Agree to meet or discuss any issues or concerns with school staff as appropriate.
- Apply well in advance for 'leave of absence' (if I must take my child out of school during term time) as there is strict Government guidance laid down regarding statutory attendance. (Leave of absence is not guaranteed).
- Ensure that any relevant medical information is shared and that records or medications (especially asthma inhalers) are provided and updated in consultation with school staff.
